life stages
while i find myself still in school and have always felt young (as a friend puts it, age is only a state of mind), i realize now that i'm actually getting old (not old old, but maturing, so to speak). not that i mind or not that i'm insecure of such fact. i was just amazed by the thought. why?
a good friend invited me to become a secondary sponsor (candle, to be specific) in her wedding in june next year. it's not actually the first time i've been invited to a friend's wedding (my friends, not my parents' or siblings' friends). but most of these friends who tied the knot already are a bit older than i am. but this is different. it suddenly dawned upon me that this friend who's getting married june next year is actually a batchmate in college. oh my, friends my age are starting to get married. not that i want to get married any time soon. (you know, career muna. showbiz eh. hehe!) it's just the thought that i am actually "of age" to get married already. (yeah, i know, the family code says 18 years old yada yada yada. i mean, the "right time" to get married, which i think is also relative. anyway, i'd rather not go into this topic.)
life stages... why the title? well, i thought that the occasions go to somehow indicate our age... for example:
- kiddie party stage --> you go to this when you're a kid
- not-so-kiddie party stage --> early teenage years probably
- prom stage --> high school, definitely
- debut party stage --> early college years
- wedding stage --> a few years (sometimes, many years) after college graduation
- binyag stage
- then back to the kiddie party stage
and though the personalities will definitely differ, the cycle continues...
